The #Babishai2018 Long list has proven once again that the crust of the finest African writing is in our midst.

The judges, Professor Remi Raj, (Nigeria), Rehema Nanfuka, Uganda) and Alfred Msadala,(Malawi) pored over a thousand poems to select a long list. It was an exhaustive process and by no means easy; because selecting poems from a competition is in itself a challenge.

We congratulate and thank all the African poets that participated in this year’s contest.

The short list will be out soon and the eventual winner announced during that Babishai Poetry Festival that takes place from 3-6 August in Kapchorwa and Mbale.
